I invite you to view my exhibit “The Soul’s Journey” at the Woman’s Club of Minneapolis. Work in this collection is centered around the themes of spirituality, love, grief, and hope. My images are unforced, inclusive moments that ask you to settle in and simply observe the beauty of the journey over a finite destination.

The Soul’s Journey

To begin is an act of faith. Moving from shadow to light.
Having the courage to find peace in solitude.
Having the wisdom to allow god’s garden to sustain us.

My journey began in earnest with the loss of my soulmate.
In the darkness of my loss, I searched for beauty and light.
A reason to move forward to rejoin the world.
Healing is the restoration of the soul.

Nature reminds me I must wait for beauty to reveal its secrets. Wait for the light. Be patient. Respect its rhythms.
Nature reminds that we are integral to its survival…our survival.
Our soul needs nurturing. Fed with love, shared with others.

These images were gathered, lovingly curated and presented so others can share the light.
I hope you find beauty and serenity, wherever you are on your journey.

Artist Bio

Joseph Donovan travels the backroads of the United States and Canada to capture serene beauty in unexpected ways. His photography stems from a deep appreciation for the forces that connect our humanity with the natural world. His work summons that still place within us that offers a reprieve from everyday life. Photography has been both a practice and a haven for Donovan. His technical mastery is matched by the reverence for the work of earlier landscape artists. From California Impressionists to the Hudson River School, Donovan brings a painter’s eye to his work.
