We've Come a Long Way

WOW! What a journey it has been! In October 2018, I signed a lease for 1100 sq ft of space in the 2800 Lyndale Building. Centrally located in the Lyn-Lake area of Minneapolis, I thought it would make a terrific studio for editing and printing my images. In November 2018, the Albertsson Hansen Architecture firm was hired to design the studio space.

Studio construction began in January 2019, with space improvements including a kitchen, dividing wall, sheetrock, all new overhead and track LED lighting, and painting the space from top to bottom. Finding a 100 year-old 18-panel glass door was a special touch, and presents a warm welcome to guests arriving to the studio space.

After many months of construction, I was excited to host my first exhibit in September 2019. It was a great way to showcase the studio enhancements and welcome visitors to the studio. The opening was a terrific success with over 100 guests attending from across the country.

As for everyone, 2020 was a difficult year. On a personal level I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and of course business was severely hampered by COVID restrictions.

Entering 2021, we knew a number of changes were needed. First up was a website redesign that included an e-commerce function; now anyone in the world can order a print online.

A Journal section was also added to the website. Interesting articles will be posted throughout the year, with some highlighting some of my favorite locations for image making. One article is about Mono Lake, California, and both Kiss Of The Moonrise and One Light are from this location. Included are links on where to stay, map of the location and other fun facts.

This year, a new limited edition series of 100 was introduced, titled Soul’s Journey. This series contains three 13" x 19" prints in a custom made enclosure. The enclosure was designed and crafted by a collaboration of designers, writers and local book binder Campbell-Logan Bindery, a 60 year old family-run business. It is a beautiful piece, and we are very proud to offer it as our first entry to the new Limited Edition Series. More Limited Edition products will be added during 2021, please look for them or signup to receive a notice when a new piece is introduced.

Finally, the studio underwent a major transformation, it has been converted into a purely gallery space. This allows for more prints of varying sizes and frame styles to be displayed, giving viewers a deeper sense of the images and an opportunity to envision the work in their own environment.

I want to extend a personal invitation to you to visit the new gallery space. Visiting the gallery will allow you to see first hand the richness and depth of the images, conveying a feeling of intimacy, immersion and for some viewers a sense of the spiritual. All visits will be COVID safe with masks required and limited to just one person or couple at a time.

I would love to hear your vision for your home or work space and how my images may play a part in achieving that vision. Please email me to schedule your visit; weekday and weekend times are available.

I look forward to welcoming you to the gallery!

Thank you,
Joe
